Circle the Wagons

I’ll bet this has happened to some of you, too: you make big plans to go somewhere, and everything changes at the last minute. Plans get cancelled, or put on hold. Indefinitely.

We’ve been in the Austin, TX area (home base for us) for two months now, and will be for a couple more. There is a family health issue we are attending to; my son has MS… and is going through some changes.

Consequently, I’ve been thinking a lot about “mobility” these days. Some of us have such a strong desire to wander and explore. “Goin’  mobile.”  “Life on the road.”  Yet for others,  mobility sometimes becomes a major challenge, or it’s barely possible. Life has always been, and always will be, a study in contrasts. Opposites, yin and yang. A search for balance, or equipoise.

As much as we didn’t want to be here this summer in this heat, we are not fighting it. There is work to be done. For now, we are helping my son find his own balance, and enjoying the many gifts that have come along with this.

I’d love it if you’d follow my other blog:  and the online magazine for which I write articles:  And if you want more of my words,  I’ve written a book: “Sick and Tired & Sexy: Living Beautifully with Chronic Illness,” which is available through Amazon books.

Thank you for your support. Please let me know of YOUR travels in the comments.  I love living vicariously!

XO Donna

  1. I’m sorry to hear of your son’s struggles. Life can be challenging. We’re not rolling much this summer either which is fine by me…. I need the break. Hope you stay cool and all goes well with your son!

  2. Thank you, Ingrid… that is so sweet of you! This break has given us lots to think about, and I look forward to discovering our next steps.
Enjoy your break, and keep photographing your beautiful flowers!! 💖💖💖💖
